Our Mission in Research

The European Neuropathy Foundation (ENF) supports high-impact scientific research aimed at understanding, diagnosing, and treating complex neuropathic conditions, with a special focus on pelvic nerve disorders, neurofunctional dysfunctions, chronic neuropathic pain, and bioelectronic innovatioons that shape the future of patient care.

Our goal is simple: to bring real, measurable improvments to patients' lives through evidence-based research and translational breakthroughs.

Our Scientific Priorities

Pelvic Neuropathies

   - with treatment of causes not only of symptoms with innovative diagnostic methods, imaging limitations, Doppler-based detection, and minimally invasive nerve decompression strategies

   - Understanding the neurobiology of pain chronification and central senzitization, immune-neural interactions, and personalized treatment pathways for complex pain disorders

Neurofunctional Pelvic Disorders - including bladder dysfunctions (overactive bladder, incontinence..), bowel dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, pelvic autonomic dysregulation, and complex neurofunctional syndromes (IC...)

Spinal Cord Injury - including axon regeneration, cortico-spinal/vagal plasticity and rehabilitation

Bioelectronic Medicine & Preventive Medicine - including neuromodulative treatments of osteoporosis, sarcopenia, dementia/Parkinson, depression with AI-assisted neural interfaces and precision bioelectronic approaches to restore function

Translational Clinical Research that connect basic science with real clinical outcomes, improving diagnostics, procedures and long-term patient recovery

Ongoing & upcoming Programs

Clinical Research in Pelvic Nerve Disorders
Studies investigating pelvic nerve entrapment, neurovascular conflicts, neuropathic pain, and innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, with a particular focus on conditions affecting women.

Innovation in Bioelectronic Medicine
Supporting the development of innovative neuromodulation and bioelectronic strategies designed to improve the treatment of pelvic neurological disorders and chronic pelvic pain.

Advanced Pelvic Surgery for Women in Need
Creating access to specialized surgical care for women in underserved regions who would otherwise have little or no access to advanced treatment. Particular attention is given to complex and advanced conditions, including pelvic cancers, severe endometriosis, complex pelvic pathology and disabling neuropathic pain.

Surgical Education Across Generations
Bringing experienced senior surgeons together with motivated young physicians during humanitarian surgical missions. Complex cases become an opportunity to treat women in need while transmitting advanced surgical skills, experience and clinical judgment directly to the next generation.

Treating women. Training surgeons.

Preserving knowledge.

PROGRAMS WE SUPPORT

A growing portfolio of research, innovation and education initiatives supported by the European Neuropathy Foundation.

Clinical Research

Clinical Research & Diagnostic Innovation

Projects focused on improving early diagnosis, imaging, and clinical pathways for pelvic neuropathies, including vascular entrapment studies, AI-based diagnostics, and outcome monitoring.

Neuromodulation
& Bioelectronic Medicine

Initiatives supporting advances in GNS, LION, and autonomic-system stimulation, including next-generation technologies in collaboration with NeuroGyn and academic partners.

Education & Training

Education, Workshops & Fellowships

Support for ISON Level 1–3 training, cadaver workshops, international observerships, and fellowships that expand global expertise in neuropelveology.

Education & Humanitarian Surgery

Training the next generation. Bringing advanced surgery to women who need it most.

The ENF is committed to preserving and passing on advanced surgical knowledge to the next generation. Our educational missions bring experienced senior surgeons together with highly motivated young physicians to provide advanced pelvic surgery in underserved regions of the world.

By combining surgical education with humanitarian care, these programs create a unique circle of benefit: women gain access to specialized treatment, young surgeons receive hands-on training, and experienced surgeons pass decades of knowledge to the next generation.

“Knowledge should not retire with the surgeon who possesses it.”

Patient Support

Patient Support & Global Awareness

Programs designed to increase public awareness, improve patient education, support access to expertise, and reduce the delayed diagnosis that many patients face.

Why Our Work Matters

Millions of patients live with undiagnosed or untreated neuropathic conditions. By supporting pioneering research and new therapeutic pathways, ENF brings hope, clarity, and solutions to those who need them most.

AT ENF, WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT SCIENTIFIC INNOVATION SAVES LIVES.

By supporting pioneering research, we accelerate progress in neuropathy, neuropelveology, and bioelectronic medicine - creating a future where patients receive the CARE, DIGNITY, and RELIEF THEY DESERVE.
